Renewal Credit Guidelines

RENEWAL REQUIREMENTS FOR A CONTINUING FIVE YEAR LICENSE                                                  

 North Carolina Standard Professional 2 licenses must be renewed every five years. Each license holder is responsible for knowing and satisfying license renewal requirements. For a license to remain current, all credit must be earned by the expiration date of the existing license. To renew a continuing five year license, one must have a total of 8.0 renewal credits which must include:   

   3.0 ceu--content area credits

   5.0 ceu---general credits      

National Boards

The National Board Certification Renewal process awards 5 renewal credits for one renewal cycle (3 credits for academic subject area and 2 regular credits; credits can not be used for technology or reading). For credit to be posted, the individual should send a copy of their letter acknowledging renewal of NB to the Human Resources Department - sign and date the bottom of the letter and indicate the renewal cycle dates NB credits should be posted (either the current renewal cycle or the next renewal cycle).

 Prior approval is required for all Staff Development.

    BY JULY 2016, EIGHT CEUS ARE REQUIRED FOR ALL 
    LICENSES.
