Celebration of Excellence
Marcia Nichols - Elite Educator of Excellence Recipient
Central Office and Liberty Drive Elementary personnel helped celebrate the first Elite Teacher of Excellence on Monday, November 6th -- Mrs. Marcia Nichols. The group traipsed through the halls, making noise and gathering a larger and larger crowd until arriving at Mrs. Nichols' door.
Mrs. Nichols is a 4th grade teacher at Liberty Drive Elementary School and came to teaching a little later in life. She worked in a school for over 9 years as a teacher assistant and as a preschool teacher and loved doing it so much that she went back to night school to get her degree in education. She has been teaching for a total of 6 years of which 4 have been with Thomasville City Schools.
Mrs. Nichols is the mother of three children -- Kelsey age 25, Keri age 23, and Kasey age 21. She is also a very proud grandmother to grandson Elijah Jude who is 2 1/2 years old. She reports that she has a wonderful and loving husband to whom she's been married for 28 years, and she couldn't have made it to where she is now without him.
Originally from Massachusetts, Mrs. Nichols is a huge New England Patriots fan.
The Elite Teacher of Excellence receives a roving trophy with his/her name on it along with a small award that he/she can keep. Keep your ears open and your eyes peeled because you never know who might be next!
