Private First Class Elisabet Lopez THS '25, was joined by Sergeant First Class Smith and Lieutenant Colonel Merkel at Ely's Army Basic Training graduation, Fort Jackson SC on October 23rd, 2025. Monday, Ely starts her Advanced Individual Training at Fort Jackson to serve as a Religious Affairs Specialist. At Thomasville High School, Ely was a 4-year Cadet, who served as our Battalion Commander her senior year and was very active on our JROTC Color Guard and Air Rifle Marksmanship teams .
THS had two other recent alumni graduate Army Basic Training together on Thursday. In addition to Ely, Theresa Williams THS '24 and Yancel Palanco THS '25 graduated yesterday. Additionally, Andy Magin THS '25 is currently at Fort Jackson undergoing Army Basic Training. Theresa and Andy were both 4-year THS Cadets; both were senior level JROTC leaders their Senior year and were very active on our JROTC Color Guard and Air Rifle Marksmanship teams.
