The Thomasville City Board of Education is pleased to announce Dr. Rodney Shotwell as Interim Superintendent of Thomasville City Schools effective June 1, 2026.
Dr. Shotwell brings a wealth of experience in public education leadership, having served as a superintendent and most recently as interim superintendent of Lexington City Schools. A seasoned leader with deep roots in North Carolina public education, he is known for his steady leadership, strong communication, and commitment to student success.
Throughout his career, Dr. Shotwell has led districts through critical transitions, focusing on fiscal responsibility, operational stability, and maintaining a strong instructional focus in the classroom. His work with school boards and leadership teams has emphasized transparency, collaboration and building trust within the community.
During his tenure in Lexington City Schools, Dr. Shotwell guided the district through a period of transition, ensuring continuity of operations while keeping the focus on student achievement and staff support. His leadership style is grounded in listening, problem-solving, and delivering results for students and families.
