Student Assignment (Out of District Transfers and Releases)

All admissions and release applications for the 2024-2025 school year must be completed via Google Doc using the links below. Please complete your application and provide any required documentation. Once the application has been completed, it will be reviewed for consideration.

Out of District Student Admission

Families who do not live in the Thomasville City Schools attendance zone but desire for their students to attend Thomasville City Schools will have to apply to be accepted as an Out of District Student.

To apply, you will need to:

complete a TCS application for admission
obtain a release from the school district in which you reside (you will need to contact that school district for their release procedures)
Once your full application is received, you will receive a letter explaining your acceptance or denial.
If accepted into the TCS district, a TCS out-of-district application must be completed EACH year thereafter

Out of District Student Transfer/Release

Families who live in the Thomasville City Schools attendance zone but desire for your students to attend school outside of Thomasville City Schools will have to apply to be Released From Our School District.

To apply, you will need to:

complete a TCS application for release
obtain an acceptance letter from the school district that you are being admitted to (you will need to contact that school district for their out of district admission procedures)
Once your full application is received, you will receive a letter explaining your release or denial.
Please note: If the school district you are trying to attend denies your request to enroll, your release will expire and you will need to prepare to attend the appropriate TCS school.

Child Care Provision Supporting Evidence: If an adult other than the parent or legal guardian cares for a child immediately before or after school hours, the parents must submit a notarized “Child Care Verification Form” for release or admission consideration. The “Child Care Verification Form” can be obtained from TCS central office or downloaded from the website. Once the form is completed, it should be brought to the central office or emailed to Cindy Lain at [email protected]. Failure to provide completed information may result in denial or revocation of release or admission.

2. Request for Release Due to Employment: If parent(s)/legal guardian(s) is employed outside the TCS school district, “Employer Verification Form” must be submitted for release consideration. The “Employer Verification Form” can be obtained from TCS central office or downloaded from the website. Once the form is completed, it should be brought to the central office or emailed to Cindy Lain at [email protected]. Failure to provide completed information may result in denial or revocation of release.
